Pacific Palisades

The children had grown up and moved out of their Pacific Palisades home and it was time for the owners to remodel and update. They drew upon their Saxton heritage and sought a design similar to those built by English gentleman farmers in the South of France during the British occupation. The house is neither English nor French - but a wonderful combination of both.

The original scope of work called for only a partial demolition, remodel and expansion. However, as demo began it was discovered that the preexisting foundations were so sub-standard and under engineered, the owners instructed architect Greg Cahill and Race Point to replace the entire foundation system and to exceed current codes and engineering practices with an entirely new structure below – and a complete new home above, a 30% increase in the original scope of contract.

The $3 million construction project created an 8,500 square foot single family residence which includes an elevator, copper roofi ng, a round Mahogany paneled offi ce, American walnut fl oors, multiple custom elliptical arches, custom moldings, two Master Suites, and classic pool and landscaping – all completed ahead of schedule.
