Arcadia

Arcadia, Glencoe Drive

This 11,500 sq. ft. house was designed for the function and enjoyment of a family of five but also to entertain the owner’s friends and business associates. The estate was designed by Lim Chang Rohling and Associates, a Pasadena architecture firm. The existing 6,000 sq. ft. house and pool was demolished and replaced by this magnificent home, gardens and pool house while preserving the significant mature trees. It features two complete guest suites, a media room, a main kitchen, a wok kitchen and a butler’s pantry with three full size Subzero wine refrigerators. The site includes a 60 foot pool with spa, a pool house with a full outside kitchen, a putting green and a furbished existing tennis court. This home was inspired by the villas of Italy situated in a similar sun warmed climate. Formal symmetry and an axial floor plan resulted in a large home with clear circulation patterns as well as well orchestrated vistas. The interior spaces are large but well proportioned, with full arches, groin vault ceilings, paneled walls, simple but elegant plaster cornices, travertine stone and walnut wood floors, iron light fixtures, rich cabinet details, all added to the warmth and appeal of this home. The pictures tell the story of the quality that was provided for this Italianate Villa. The project was completed six weeks ahead of schedule and we actually gave money back to the owners on their Fixed Price Contract.
